Some good news. I am upgrading my calculators (checking them first to make sure again they are bug-free) and preparing them in java script. That means they should be much easier to navigate and much faster to load and calculate.

There is also a possibility that I could prepare an app for smartphones combining all my calculators and guides. It will probably have to be priced somehow, but I can promise it will be very cheap (somehow similar to the cheap apps you can get on iphone, which go for less than 1 euro).

However, I would like to know first if there are any people interested in such an app. I value my time, so please if you are interested vote in the poll below. Thanks!

*** Unfortunately some evil forces were constantly deleting votes (they were disappearing) so I decided to use a different poll app, to stop it. PLEASE VOTE AGAIN!!! ***
Everything about nukes in Grepolis and their use (attack forces composition, city builds and other requirements).

Definition of a Perfect Nuke - its an attack which is going to hit your enemy so hard that he will be raging on the Grepolis forum in the next few minutes after seeing what it left him with - a battle report. It is an attack made of the same type of units, only Slingers, Horsemen, Hoplites, Light Ships or mythical units. Here is an example of a perfect nuke:
Long conflicts in Grepolis against big or skilled players and alliances are very demanding and you will have to focus on resources to be ahead of your enemy. If you read my guides about timing waves, organising them (including my famous manoeuvre), organising and planning operations and still have trouble winning then you will have to focus on your resources and prepare for a long war.

If you cant outsmart your opponent, then you need to outlast him - endurance is the key here. You should aim to have at any moment more army units available to fight than your enemy. This will let you to have control over the war. The goal is to achieve an advantage and hold it or even increase it - without an army nobody can survive for long.

This article is an ultimate guide focusing on all types of resources in Grepolis 2.0 (materials, favour points, time).

Colorful
history of 300 elite soldiers who defeated Spartans on many occasions,
were invincible for over 40 years and in the final battle against
overwhelming forces didn't surrender and died with honor.

The Sacred Band of Thebes were the elite forces of the Theban army in the 4th century BC. Originally it was formed of 300 hand-picked men, all housed and trained at the city's expense in order to fight as hoplites.

They became, in effect, the "special forces" of Greek soldiery and
the forty years of their known existence (378–338 BC) marked the
pre-eminence of Thebes as a military and political power in
late-classical Greece.

The Sacred Band under Pelopidas fought the Spartans at Tegyra in 375 BC, routing an army that was at least three times its size.

It was also responsible for the victory at Leuctra in 371 BC
(against Spartans), called by Pausanias the most decisive battle ever
fought by Greeks against Greeks.

Defeat of that formation came at the Battle of Chaeronea (338 BC),
the decisive contest in which Philip II of Macedon, with his son
Alexander, extinguished Theban hegemony.

Plutarch says that Alexander the Great was the "first to break the ranks of
the Sacred Band of the Thebans", which have previously been seen as
invincible (with help of the heavy cavalry and the novel long-speared
Macedonian phalanx)

The Thebans of the Sacred Band held their ground, although
surrounded and overwhelmed, refused to surrender and nearly all 300 fell
where they stood beside their last commander, Theagenes.

Everything about operations - leaders role, creating and coordinating Battlegroups, planning and preparing your operations, different targets and goals, some general tactics and few tricks.

In the previous parts I covered timing and organising your attack waves
in order to conquer a city. However as players and alliances get bigger,
it will be harder to take their cities. In order to do that you might
need to organise large scale operations. As I mentioned in the
introduction to War Tactics, well coordinated operations targeting many
cities at the same time can be devastating to enemy players and even
alliances in the medium and sometimes advanced stage of the game.
I would like to inform you that I made a lot of changes in guides on this page. I added extra information or updated them to be in line with 2.0. Some guides were re-written and I added many extra facts, analyses and tips (like Mythical units), while others were only partly re-written. I am mostly proud of my new Mythical Units guide which was totally re-written. I added new rankings and statistics showing units effectiveness and efficiency. This in turn let me to re-evaluate some units and change my mind a bit about them (not that much though).

Guides that were changed and updated:

Additionally I fixed some minor bugs and retested my Travel Time Calculator, it should work perfectly fine now. Many people really like it and find it helpful. Also thanks to Wellagain we have an alternative for my planner in the form of an online google doc, so if youre interested go and check it: Attack Planner.

Now I can come back to writing new guides - next one coming soon will be war tactics series of few guides about winning wars of course ;)

Take care!
If you read Part 1 about recruiting right people for your alliance, you should already have a decent group of champs (yes, like those on the picture). Now it is your duty to organise them and coordinate their actions. Of course after awhile they will all know what to do and your job will be much easier but with new people its never easy. I will also describe here the key components of a properly working alliance, which for some people are wrongly limited only to structure.

I saw many leaders frustrated with inactive members, frustrated after
sending long mass ingame mails, asking people to cooperate, send
resources, armies, to read posts on forum but with very minimal
response. Their "Fidel Castro" long speeches to masses brought no
results, because masses didn't care to read or react. They were inviting
masses to their alliance and then expected masses to follow.

This is not another guide. While cleaning my disk I found some old screen shots and texts which I used on different forums or just for lols so decided to post them here. There is a story behind them of course... There was alliance called The Forgotten Phoenix which at some point was as far as I remember 2nd biggest on our server. Their leaders were always keeping contacts with all alliances around and when an opportunity was on horizon they knew how to use it for their advantage. They were talking to you nicely but behind your back were making deals with other powers around when and how they gonna strike you. They were also feeding on weaker less organised alliances taking them one by one. That politic made them top alliance in the east of Delta...in numbers. What statistics were not showing was their lack of "military" training. Most of the members didn't know how to fight! The biggest mistake they did (like many other alliances) was assuming that if they are on top of the grepo stats chart, they can take down our alliance which was of a similar size but with 3-4 times less members. Some leaders get very cocky if their alliance is made of hundreds of players - what they never realise is the simple fact that not numbers matter but quality of players. Same with some of their "big" fighters - yes they had 300k points but their cities were badly organised, armies weak or just wrong units built. Tactical abilities = zero, no idea about timing waves etc I could go on and on but no point now.
Traveltime calculator is an excel file calculating for you lots of things and saving your precious time for more interesting stuff. Many people find it very helpful and easy to use.

I made it very simple (you need to have really basic knowledge of excel to be able to put information into cells), marked correct boxes/cells with colors and wrote a simple 4 steps instruction so you know what and where to type. Once you are familiar with it, you will not regret as it will save a lot of your time when planning attacks from many cities. It takes literally 5 minutes maximum to plan attacks from 20-30 cities (depends how quickly you can check travel times in the game and copy them into the spreadsheet).
This is how it looks like:

Many of us often wonders whats better - Fast Transport Ships or regular Transport Boats. I think that after researching Bunks, which is a must tech anyway, Fast Transport Ships become much more attractive. Bunks - "Your transport ships can carry 6 additional units". This technology is definitely worth investing in as it will save some population which you would put in transport ships. That population can be invested in more troops and make your army stronger. The most important thing is that it also makes Fast Transport Ships a better choice when deciding about your navy transport in the advanced stage of the game (when your enemies are far away).
In 9/10 cities I conquered I had to reset some research in the academy wasting my Culture Points. Its amazing how many useless technologies people have in their cities! I will give a brief description of all of them and will tell you on which you should never waste your points. All technologies help more or less but since we cant have them all in one city then its important to prioritize them and to have really important ones.

Wars (mass scale conflict between at least two groups of players) happen in Grepolis at different stages of game-life and require different tactics in order to be successful. I will present now three main stages of the game. As you progress in your game you will have to change your tactics a bit and add new ones in order to win. In my next guides I will focus precisely on timing waves, organising conquest operations, on effectiveness and efficiency of your actions, when to attack and when not to, how to win "resources war", PnP (Politic and Propaganda), demoralising enemy, politics, diplomacy and so on - all of these are required to win a war especially in the advanced stage of the game. This "guide" here is just a general introduction.

City walls are the most important factor next to the units which will contribute to your city defenses. Many players when attacking ignore the power that walls add to total defense so please let me explain how important they are and if you are the attacking side, how important it is to send catapults with your attacks.

Breakthrough is one of the most misunderstood and underestimated research in Grepolis. Many players ignore it or try it in a wrong way, get wiped and never come back to it. As long as you know what breakthrough can offer you and what are its limitations then it can become a very useful tool in your arsenal. Its main drawback in a Revolt world is that it cannot be both revolt and breakthrough, which makes it more usefull for Conquest worlds.

This attack planner is slightly different, it provides some
additional info, but also requires some more filling in. It's made in google docs,
so it is always online and is saved automatically, and you can access
it from anywhere — from work, school, home or mobile. No need to copy
it, email yourself or carry around!

Thank you Wellagain for providing new tool, I hope people will enjoy using it. The only thing I can advice is to not depend on the popping calendar - it bugged for me every time but its not a problem as you can just type in your date (remember to use proper form mm/dd/yyyy)

Some credits should also go to jimmyisoff2camp and datester who worked on this planner before and created its foundations..

Biremes of Fire Ships? To answer quickly I will say that Fire Ships are better against Light Ships attacks however overall Biremes are more useful and should make most of our navy defenses. It also depends in what stage of the game you are. If you have only few cities then having Fire Ships in each of your harbours make sense however once you get 10+ cities and become part of a bigger alliance, then you need something more useful - Biremes.

City specialisation in Grepolis is a must in advanced stage of the game. City specialisation becomes more crucial than ever, and changing your building layout for each of those cities to only the necessities will optimise the farm spaces left to make troops.
There are many reasons for that. First of all as I mentioned many times before, in Grepolis battle mechanics proportions are very important. The bigger attacking wave the more damage it can deal and in the consequence save more of your units, resources and time to rebuild them. Due to population cap per city and inability to merge armies when attacking we are forced to maximise effectiveness of every single army/wave we send. In Grepolis sending one wave made of 1000 slingers is much more effective and efficient than two waves of 500 slingers. There are also other reasons - its simply time and resources saving strategy.

In this guide I will show you how to make big Slingers or Light Ships nukes and how to construct a good Colony Ship wave. I will also give few tips about organising your cities to be able to defend your little empire.
I plan to post here the most ridiculous battle reports I get into my hands. Unfortunately I haven't saved from my wars any except one, however found some in Grepolis Forum. If you have more to share please let us know. LEARN and HAVE FUN!

1) So it was one busy Bireme out there and yes - some people can be that silly
Source

GROMs advice: Escort your transport ships with Light Ships dude and leave at least 1 Bireme protecting your city, who knows what fortune has for us... When I was dodging attacks I was also leaving 1 Bireme behind, some people can be very generous ;) I also love that he used Heroic Power but didnt think about LS lol

2) Damn! and I thought its a safe place, I was hiding there few
battleships as well :/ Did everyone knew about this place or only few of
us? Now have to look for a new hideout

Source

GROMs advice: DONT DO THAT lol seriously, LS cant defend; you cant see attacks heading a ghost town duh! So if you really want to "hide" your LS like this, chose a city where you can see incoming attacks but better just send them for a trip to attack enemy city or your own one when going to sleep.

3) Size dont matter - 1000 little stones will always beat 100 huge ones.

GROMs advice: Catapults are not great for defending a CS or anything, nor Light Ships or Slingers...and why the hell 100 catapults??? why? Fetish?

If you have any more I will post them here so we could all learn from them :)
This is the most fundamental and important guide you should read if you want to play better in Grepolis. This is an online war game and winning battles against other players is one of the most important things you should master if you want to rule in this virtual world. Understanding roles of all army units, their attributes, strong and weak points is crucial if you want to win battles and wars. You must know which unit serves what purpose. Each of them have a specific role in the game. In this guide I will describe them quickly and tell how to use them.
