Ancient Greece

Here I will post information and pictures related to the Ancient Greece. Grepolis is only a game based on some script that doesn't exactly represent the reality of that times. It is more focused on entertainment and must be playable. However some of you might wonder how actually the ancient Greek army looked like or functioned. Were slingers really the most effective units at that time, even more than famous spartan hoplites who were the inspiration for movies like 300?

I will post on this page any history related materials, that I found interesting, hope you like it.

Greek army
The Greek army mostly depended on their phalanx. They were the inventors of it, and it had never failed during the Persian wars. The phalanx had proved itself to be a superior tactic in their eyes, and for long they did not see the need to expand the army with lighter troops, archers, or cavalry. The trireme had also proved itself to be a superior weapon, and the Greek navy practically only consisted of these fast vessels. The Greek armies were not so versatile as those of Macedon and Persia, but their training and equipment was more than excellent.
