  1. This ia a super informative site but I'm having some trouble navigating it. Should I be able to see all you posts?

I'm almost ready to build a temple and trying to decide on choice of god -- you and others recommend Hera. A few members in my alliance are pushing for Zeus because of the chariots. This doesn't seem "cost" effective but I can't find a way of calculating the cost of the favors.

Any insights would be appreciated. Thanks.

  2. hi, thank you and sorry for late response - christmas time :) Im still building the site and so much more to write about :)

You will not see all posts on the main page but you should be able to find them through Menu tabs which are located in the top of the page, just under the main banner Home/Basic Guides/Advanaced game etc. Each page will have a list of links to each article.

Now about the god thing...I would still advice to have Hera for your first city. Zeus is the most useless of all gods. How many chariots you can cast - 10 with maxed points? Well maybe if you are in the very early stage of the game and you have many teammates saving all favour points then maybe that extra 10 chariots from each of you might decide about winning an important battle. Chariots are used by some alliance as support "paratroopers" when city is under attack. However except very specific circumstances Zues wont help you much. Chariots are very specific units for conquests but are not the strongest in attack nor in defense, so not good for everyday use.

Hera gives you more resources, speed up production, gives you harpies to farm players located on other islands.

    I hope I helped you a bit.

  3. I just got started playing Grepolis last month, and I should say your guide is very informative. I have a question:

if for example I am being conquered, what happens if I suddenly put it in vacation mode? Will the conquer abort?

    kudos!

    ReplyDelete
  4. no it wont, as it will take 48hrs to kick in. VM cant be switched on suddenly.

"After choosing the vacation mode, it takes another 48 hours for it to become active. During this time you are vulnerable, as always, and you can also play. But you can no longer attack anyone and all your attacks that would arrive after beginning the vacation mode are no longer admitted."

  5. G.R.O.M Kudos on the site firstly mate, some great insights here and even better attacking info.

Particularly liked your thread about research and like you mentioned, i too have found many nightmarish academies after CSing.

My question though refers to the Grepo Tool "Grepolis Scanner". I've registered and downloaded the greasemonkey script required, but still can't seem to get it working for me.

I've asked another alliance member whom i trust to join and sent him a dummy support in order to test it but neither him nor me can seem to have it show up in the site.

I'm sure that whatever it is that im not doing is simple. Im jst wondering if you would have a step by step guide regarding the "troop movement" tool?

  6. im sorry but i wasnt using a lot this tool but heared few people saying good things about it so as an extra help decided to add a link for it. Unfortunately Im not very familiar with it. If you ask me about all other tools I will be happy to help though.
    Good luck.

Would you be able to put me in contact with one of these people maybe?

There are alot of useful tools in that site but can't figure out how to use them effectively.

  8. Are you still updating this site? And apart from the basic, Grepolis have got 2.0 version now.

I'm playing Sigma, which is ver 2.0 with speed 3. The farming system has changed, maybe you could write a guide about how to farm and stuff.

And the attack planner is great, only if I could figure out how to use it properly. The only confusing part for me is Why does the Green Box does not change accordingly when I input different travelling time?

Thank you and keep it up.

  9. hey great site quick q what is the differance between attacking before the cs land and support after a cs lands
    thanks for the help

  10. I have a question:

You listed in the "Specialisation" article that Senate should be limited to level 1-15. How do you get Divine Statue and Thermal Bath then?

Say if my Senate is level 24, and I've already got Thermal Bath and Divine Statue, if I use "Demolish" and reduce my Senate, would the Statue and Thermal Bath disappear too?

    ReplyDelete
  11. To JBone: If you attack after your CS land, you are attacking your own CS.

Similar to if your Support land BEFORE the CS, you are helping the enemy defending your own CS from landing.

  12. Sorry to inform you but Im not playing Grepolis any more - I was waiting for 2.0 to come to my server but it has never happened and I didnt feel like starting everything all over again.

    Now to your questions:

The green box in my calculator - it works on my computer. Make sure you put a date and hour in the yellow one (which is your ETA) and above each green box you should type in Travel Time from that specific city.

@JBone - basically what Michael said. I can only add that on my server if I attacked my own CS I was getting the message about my troops having a tea and coming back home, so they were returning home without hitting my own CS forces. However if you support your enemy before your CS arrives and then hit it with your army, you will kill your own units.

    The Senate question:
What you do is build your senate up to level 24, build your special buildings and then just demolish it few levels down. It wont destroy already existing buildings.

I still can answer some questions here regarding the old Grepolis but Im not playing 2.0 so my knowledge is limited in this area. However many things stay the same.

  13. Just wanted to say, your loyal fans on delta still remember you, and if you are having hiccups that's probably because someone like me is thinking of you ;) or posting a link to this site (hope all those people click your ads too).

You were a Legend, and delta is not the same without you. I've learned a lot from you, and it's a shame i've never got a chance to truly fight side by side with you, and learn even more..
If there's no way to talk you into getting back.. well, I wish you all the best with whatever you are doing now ;)

  14. Hi there man! I’m BLACKIE in Grepolis and Patrick in real world. I’m Spanish so my English might be not good, I hope you understand more or less. I’m playing the game for four months and I love it, although it takes a lot of my free time. I’m reading your page almost since the beginning and it’s been a very useful tool, as you have very common sense, are very strategic and explain things very well.

Well, I know that you are going to write about combat tactics and that’s what I’m expecting for. What I’ve seen is that it’s very easy for a defender to break a colonial ship if he’s online, so we all try to send the attack when we think that the other won’t be online, and that’s the only tactics I know :-S Do you know what I mean? The defender only have to put 100 birremes just before the CS gets the harbor or 100 light ships just after. I think that there have to be more ways of fooling the defender. What do you think about that?

Thanks for your time and go on please!

    1. I will cover that subject in my next guide but it will take me awhile to write it down as its a big subject and I need to cover lot of things, avoiding river of words - it has to be clear and easy to follow.

I didnt know that people expect any guides here to be honest cus I dont see many comments under my guides (almost none) and nobody asked for anything in the "suggestion box". That gives me an impression that they just come in here for quick copy/paste guides like "City" guide.

Also as an extra - wanna fire up my motivation? then click on google advert banners lol :P they are legit ones but seriously nobody clicks on them (after 60k pageviews and more than year I earned enough to buy myself 4 beers in a pub) :D
Naturally I dont post here for money (anyway cant make any) but its nice to get a beer once in awhile from doing that ;)

At the moment I hope that my latest guide, which I posted today, will help you in your game in some way.

  15. I am having some issues with how many cities the game says I have. I open Aliance page and go to "Members" and it says Lusciaan - 0 cities. How is that possible when I clearly have a city? Thank You

    1. I really dont know, looks like a bug to me. The best way to check it is to write to mod by making a ticket in your game - go to Settings/Miscellaneous/Support

or post your question on the grepo forum in the Bug Reporting section - http://forum.en.grepolis.com/forumdisplay.php?236-Bug-Reporting

    1. You should conquer as many villages as you can using your swordsmen, then you will need 10 slingers for your 4th one and then hoplites. Invest in your mines, especially in lumber mill, as you will need plenty of wood at the beginning.

  18. Why did my population disappear?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Im not sure if I know what you are asking about.

There is total population and free population (part of the total population which has not been used to construct a building or train a unit).

If total population went down, then your farm level had to go down as well. The only way to increase total population is to upgrade farm level. Population will drop if farm level is decreased (demolished or destroyed by Zeus thunder).

Maybe you are asking about free population, which is used to build units and buildings. Whenever you build something you invest population. If you construct something some of your free pop will be used by the building. When you train army units they also take free pop but when they die, you will "receive back" population used to train them.

  20. Hi GROM,

I was just wondering if there's any tools out there to guess/predict an enemy's sleeping patten. If so, how would YOU use it?

    1. Hi, I apologize for late response but I was away for 3 weeks and had limited access to the internet.

Sorry, Im not aware of any tool like that. You need to write down yourself times when you notice enemy activity.

If you are being attacked, you dont have to be online at the time when the attack was sent. All you have to do is to check distance from your city to the city which sent attack and compare it to ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival). It is not easy to guess someones real life GMT but it is possible.

Keep writing down times when you noticed enemy activity and after a while you will be able to make a rough guess.

For example I played from UK (GMT 0). To check if I play against a player located in US (GMT -5 to GMT -8) I would check if his attacks (army or spells) were sent around 10:00. If so then it was unlikely it is a player from US.

However you should try to guess what type of a player you fight against. Some unemployed people or freelancers working from home can be online 24/7 at random and unpredictable times. I knew people setting up alarm clock in the middle of the night to be able to send an attack.

Also if it is Friday or Saturday, even people with full time jobs will be able to stay late.

I fought against players who were sharing accounts (its against Grepolis rules and people can be banned for it). So the same account was used by a person from US and another one from UK, giving unfair advantage.

Thai, Malaysians etc and Aussies are +7 to +10 (more or less as you need to take into account Daylight saving time). So if an attack was sent at me between 16:00 and 19:00, it was very unlikely that it was somebody from Australia.

As far as I remember Grepolis shows German GMT time (GMT +1) but I might be wrong.

  21. ok I have clicked on all advert links on this page

has anyone figured out the ratio between the co-ordinate system and distance and the speed of a CS

i.e. how much time does a CS take to go 1,0 or 0,1 ?

  22. Hey Grom,
If you had to choose a god to start out your 1st few cities what would they be?
and what god would you use if the city was specifically for attacking purposes only(this would mean weighing the pros and cons of spells and mythical units).
    thanks
sorry that this is a long couple questions i just have been looking on your guides and havent been able to find an answer.

    1. You can find the answer to your question in my guide covering basics. Go to Basic Guides tab and read "Beginners basics - easy to follow short guides". One of the parts (closer to the end) is about gods.

In the beginning when you have only a few cities, it doesn't matter which city worships which god, because probably you will have other priorities than building a mythical army/nuke, which takes ages. Spells are more important, however a few mythical units here and there if you can afford them is a good idea.

Each god has some offensive and some defensive features. For me Hera was the most offensive goddess. Population Growth is the most used spell and if you don't need it (not rebuilding troops quickly) then you can invest points in Harpies, or universal Medusas. Desire is a defensive spell which can help as well.
Then its Zeus with great Manticores and F. Wind (naval attacks) and annoying bolts. These 2 are the most offensive gods in my opinion.

  23. Hey I see that a lot of your blogs are saying they no longer exist. I am hoping it means under construction because i have been using your wise advice and it has helped out tremendously. So my real question is are you deleting the blogs or are you updating them(specifically in the forums about land units and mythical units). maybe i'm wrong

  24. hello
I was wondering do you know any good ways to pick up free gold because there are ways of getting gold other than just paying for it but i'm wondering if you know any easy ways to pick up gold because i don't really have the money for payin that right now.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I am sorry mate but I do not play any more. When I did, I tried once those methods suggested when you want to buy gold, which do not require you to buy anything (questionnaire kind of things) but never managed to get any gold out of them. They are like a chain of never ending questionnaires, pretty annoying. Also I would not give them my real personal data ever (like phone no. address etc.).

So sorry but I do not know any way to get free gold. If you can afford a little bit, then do what I did - spend gold only on advisers and nothing else. I used to pay only for the general, commander and priest but very often was activating only the general. Priest would be my second choice or first if you are not at war atm.

  25. Do you know any way to find out a spy from an alliance? I am certain that we have a spy in my alliance and we can't find a great way to find who it is.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Sorry but I do not know any good tactic to find a spy. However if you follow my advices in the guide about organising your alliance

      http://grepolis-pro.blogspot.co.uk/2012/03/are-you-good-leader-part-2-activity.html

then you can limit damage done by spies and if you look closely into enemy actions, maybe you can narrow down the search area to a small number of players.

Basically always split up into smaller groups, where only leader knows what every group is doing. Group A should not be able to know what group B actions are (timings, exact targets, players roles).

Also try planting your own spy in the enemy team. That spy can tell you what they are talking about and if they are not careful with sharing their spy information, then you can guess the source.

Finding a spy is a very hard task. Try to organise your actions in such a way that even spy will not help other team. I will think about this subject in the future and maybe come up with some ideas.

      Good luck.
